Most of my jewelry is made from goose eggshells. I start with an empty goose egg, and draw my patterns on the shell, then wax and dye the egg. After the wax is removed, I spray the egg with a clear varnish, to protect the designs during the finishing process. I then cut them out, leaving a little extra around each design. I apply a coat of clear epoxy to the back to strengthen the shell, then sand the pieces down to the finished size. After this I glue on the jewelry finding, then put another coat of epoxy over this. The last step is to coat the front of the piece with epoxy. The process takes several days, since the epoxy needs to cure for a day at each step. The finished piece is quite sturdy.
