The Phoenix is a mythological bird with gold and scarlet plumage. Near the end of its 500-1000 year life, it builds a nest and then is consumed by fire, from which a new, young phoenix arises. On this egg the phoenix can be seen in the midst of the flames, with more flames forming a border around the egg.
